伝説のクムフラ”故ダリル・ヌペヌイ”に師事した後、”フランク・ヒューエット氏”のもと、クムフラになる。
そしてクムフラ”故ジョン・レイク”に師事する。そうした中、ケイキに対する指導のその独自性を見出し、現在数多くのケイキの指導にあたっている。
彼女の母は”フラの母”と呼ばれた故・クムフラ”アンティー・マイキ”のミュージシャンを務めていた。 ビショップミュージアム、ハレクラニホテル、カハラマンダリン、ロイヤルハワイアンホテル、シェラトンワイキキホテル、その他ホテル、レストランの沢山のショーに出演、演奏。世界をまわりショーをこなす。
From the rising of the aun at Ha’eha’e to its’ setting at Lehua,this is a greeting of love and compassion to all of the many beautiful blossoms of Halau Hula O ke Anuenue A Ma’ema’e.
It has been my sincere privilege to have been given the humble pleasure by Etsuko-sensei to continue to share art of hula to all of her haumana.From hula workshops,competitions,events,projects,and just good fun hawaiian style halau parties at “da shop”has been a home away from home for me,Sensei’s unconditional generosity.kindness,and hospitality is unsurpassed as she strives to share her love for hula to her haumana without expectation.Today,her tireless efforts and gifted vision extends to the people of Osaka as the she courageously moves forward with aloha.
Her role as a wife,mother,daughter,friend,business affliate and sensei is a task only a few can endure.And therefore,I with to extend a “BIG SHAKA”to her husband Randy,her son Camerand,and her daughter Tamia for sharing Sensei with all of us through all seasons. To her parents for their loving support and to her alaka’i for going beyond the”call of duty”to complete all missions that Sensei puts forth,mahalo plenty! 太陽が力強く登り、大切なレフアの元へと沈む、ハーラウ・フラ・オ・ケアヌエヌエ・ア・マエマエに咲く美しい花のような皆様へ、愛と深い想いを込めてご挨拶させていただきます。 皆様のおかげで、ハラウの愛すべき生徒さんたちにフラの美しさを教え続ける悦子先生を、支えられていることに喜びを感じ、深く感謝しています。
フラワークショップ、コンペティション、イベントや様々なハワイスタイルの楽しい時間を作り出すこのハラウは、私にとってハワイの自宅から離れた、もう一つの故郷のようになってきました。 ハラウの生徒とそのフラに無償の愛を注ぎ続ける悦子先生の限りない寛容さと優しさは、この上ありません。
先生の絶え間ない努力と、彼女の才能あるヴィジョンはアロハの精神と共に大阪へと広がっています
妻として、母として、娘として、友人として、ビジネス仲間として、そして先生として、多くの役割をもって生きることは誰でも出来ることではありません。こ れを支え、どんな時も私達に悦子先生をシェアさせてくれる、先生のご主人のランディ、息子のキャメロン、そして娘のタミアに「ビッグシャカ」を送りたい （感謝したい）と思います。また、愛情溢れるサポートをし続けてる彼女のご両親、仕事の枠を超えて先生の仕事を支え続けているアラカイに深く感謝します。 そして、生徒の皆さん、”E kulia i ka nu’u me ka ha’aha’a”頂上をめざして地道に努力してください。(Puku’i)
